Congratulations on a wonderful book. Given the stress that you were under to produce the book in the smallest amount of time I think you have achieved something remarkable.

You can certainly be proud of the work you have done. You not only were there taking photo's but you were also there to assist people in need, listening to their story and engaging them not as a photo opportunity but as person.

Fantastic Book. One that will leave you with goosebumps.

This is definitly a book that shold be on everyones coffee table as it not only has the stunning photography work of Judi Liosatos but you are transported to the scene as you turn each page, the written words show many emotions and heartache as well as the resolve felt accross the area and then to watch it unfold in the photos brings true understanding of the magnitude of what transpired.

I am sure those of us who went through it will pick this book up time and time again to remind us of what happened and for those not here, it is a complete story of a moment in time where the Central Highlands and Coalfields came under enormous pressure and survived. Recent history told in an incredible way.

In late January 2008, Emerald, Queensland was faced with yet another disaster in what seemed to many people, as a string of bad luck for the area. Flood waters cascaded over the Fairbairn Dam Wall and forced its way through Emerald and the surrounding areas. How people dealt with this fury of water and the effect this had on the land not only put Emerald in the world spotlight but also became a credit to the community itself.

In this book, local Photographer Judi Liosatos gathers images from during the event, showing the people and the damage to the area. In conjunction with other local photographers and backed by the Emerald Shire Council, this disaster is showcased in these pages as a keepsake for many years to come.
